Janet McHenry tells her story....

Janet Holm McHenry, a very busy woman, did not feel that she had the time to include a walking regimine. But, after suffering from depression, weight gain and exhaustion, she began a daily prayer walk. Her life was so transformed that she has written a book on the subject called Prayer Walking. She inspires us to pray and walk. She states that her health has improved. She has greater energy and greater joy because her “personal trainer” is Christ. She has benefited from prayerwalking as well as those around her.

  1. I found the book by Janet McHenry to be a very inspiring one ... enriched by much information about fitness, but inspiring with prayers answered and scriptural direction about how to pray, when, etc... It's highly recommendable and I thank you for the reference! It's also a quick and readable book. Happy PrayerWalking, Lynda!

    Greetings PrayerWalker's,
My goal is to walk at least 2 miles a day, but I usually go over that which makes up for the days I am in the car sitting rather than walking!
I joined the PrayerWalk back in August. On my first walk my daughter suggested that I take her cute little dog with me, (and she did not need a leash). I would enjoy the peace of the country, the fields, the open blue sky and have a little animal next to me. Well, the minute I walked out onto the road, "Alaska" the dog, took off running. I thought for sure she would go to the main road. So I start running after her. She had the nerve to turn and look at me and then take off running again! Finally she stopped. I was quite winded, (Colorado elevation). I was wondering why she stopped and then I notice a chicken wing in her mouth! We were once again on the run! Did I pray during all this? Well, yes, I prayed that Alaska would pass out or something before I did! I caught her and she would not open her mouth. I pulled the wing and it broke. I then had to reach further in her mouth to get the smaller bone. I told her she was a bad girl and took her back to the house. Once again I started out on my first, truly PEACEFUL prayerwalk. Instead of letting my frustration get to me, I simply prayed for everything on the prayer list. It was peaceful and serene, nature was all around me. I had to laugh at the earlier attempt to walk and pray. I imagine God was up there laughing at me and Alaska, too. What a wonderful feeling it is to just walk and open up to God, you do feel His presence. On that first day I think I got my 2 miles in about 10 minutes! Blessings to all of you, Keep Walkin' and Talkin' Caroline Eklund
